There are several primary methods for connecting battery packs, each with its own distinct characteristics:

Welding:

Characteristics: Due to its high efficiency and suitability for automation, welding is widely used in manufacturing. It ensures stable connections between individual battery cells, facilitating effective power transmission. Furthermore, welding provides structural support, which enhances the overall stability of the battery pack.

Bolted Connections:

Characteristics: Bolted connections are simple and practical, making them particularly well-suited for large-capacity battery systems. By using bolts and nuts to secure the cells together, this method ensures efficient power transfer. Bolted connections are also easy to disassemble and repair, allowing for convenient replacement or upgrades when necessary.

Mechanical Clamping (Pressure-based Connection):

Characteristics: Mechanical clamping is highly valued for its flexibility, proving particularly effective during maintenance and recycling processes. It eliminates the need for complex procedures like welding or bolting, relying instead on mechanical force to press the battery cells together. However, if the design is not optimized, mechanical clamping can lead to variations in contact resistance, which may negatively impact the efficiency of power transmission.
Summary: There is a wide variety of methods for connecting battery packs, each offering unique advantages and specific use cases. In practice, designers carefully select the most appropriate connection method based on factors such as the battery pack's performance requirements, production costs, and ease of maintenance.
